20 Things I’ll Miss About London (and 4 Things I…

20 Things I’ll Miss About London (and 4 Things I…

There's nowhere else like London. Nothing at all, anywhere- Vivienne Westwood

My connection with London has evolved over time like a lifelong relationship full of good times and bad, excitement, passion, heartache, fun, love, and breakups.

I've just spent one week traveling through London as Solo Traveler. I think I fall more in love with London every time I go.

For a second time in this Royal City, I liked to discover new places that I haven't been there before, I liked to find the Hidden Gems of London..

My New Discoveries...

  • The Dickens inn

The Dickens inn, it is a unique pub with restaurants housed in a beautiful 18th century warehouse in the heart of St Katharine Docks. It has gorgeous views of Tower Bridge and the Shard, it's popular with tourists and locals alike.

  • Sutton and Sons

I wanted to discover a traditional fish and chips in the heart of London, as Londoners people advised me to try Sutton and Sons at Box Park.
Sutton & Sons offers the very finest deep-fried fish, coated with their own special batter, and hand-cut chunky chips to eat in the restaurant or to take away.

  • Notting hill

Yeah…. Notting hill, I didn’t have the chance and time as well to visit it on my previous trip. Cosmopolitan Notting Hill captivates visitors with its unique charm. Notting Hill is one of London's most desirable areas. You can find everything from world-famous events and restaurants, to cutting-edge galleries and theatres in Notting Hill. Perhaps you'll even meet a film star in a travel book shop.
The popular Notting Hill market is known as Portobello Market, so called because it runs along Portobello Road. Pay a visit to one of the best markets in London and you'll discover something interesting to take home with you.

  • Osterley Park

Osterley Park is a mansion set in a large park of the same name. It is in the London Borough of Hounslow, part of the western suburbs of London. What better way to spend a gorgeous autumn day than admiring the green places. Here I run from the hustle and bustle of London, to enjoy a good walk inside the park, a fresh milked ice cream, followed the delicious lunch at stables café, and reading a book that I bought from a second hand bookshop.
But for now I find myself reflecting on the things I will miss most (and least) about the place I’ve loved since my first trip to London.

20 Things I’ll Miss About London
  1. Enjoying the safety and accessibility that allows me to explore the city on foot.
  2. The melting pot of cultures that provides the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.
  3. The parks and wetland centers that provide an escape from city living without having to physically leave.
  4. High street Kensington is my favorite street to walk, having a coffee, and sure for shopping.
  5. The public transport system that makes it possible to live without a car, makes everything in London within easy reach and provides the option of a night out without a designated driver.
  6. Mind the Gap, who can’t recognize the voice comes with this sentence while attending the tube train.
  7. London bus with its double-decker provide a unique opportunity to appreciate the full architectural splendor of London's famous streets and monuments. I prefer to sit in the higher deck to enjoy London.
  8. Elizabeth Tower or as it’s known as Big Ben, I can’t leave London without hearing the bells’ sound of my beloved clock tower.
  9. Shopping in Oxford Street, this vibrant street with lights and window display shops.
  10. Walking along the Thames Bank and take photos under the Tower Bridge.
  11. Enjoying my mocha on a rainy day in Starbucks tower bridge branch.
  12. Shopping at Primark, the place that you can find the value for money products.
  13. A visit to Boots is a most to do in London, for health and beauty products.
  14. Marks and Spencer, you can find good deals during Sale Seasons, and don’t miss their food to go.
  15. Fish and Chips at Suttons and sons at Box Park or Kings Arms in Greenwich.
  16. The Mocha at Fiori corner coffee shop in Soho Street.
  17. It’s 11:30 AM, it’s the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, don’t be late to see the whole ceremony.
  18. The first sunny day when pale skin turns pink, the parks are full of vibrant, happy people and they enjoy the weather.
  19. Photographing in a colorful Kensington park, on a chilly and sunny day in Autumn.
  20. Free Wi-Fi zone almost everywhere in London.

4 Things I Won’t Miss About London
  1. The steps inside the tube station, it’s really painful when holding my heavy luggage.
  2. The stodgy food and calories come from carbohydrates.
  3. Queue, queue, queue, almost everywhere, train, shops, attractions….
  4. Expensive accommodation.

The Final Word
Like any relationship. There have been ups and downs, laughter and tears and I confess there were times I was unfaithful. But even when I was cheating on London with other countries, a piece of my heart was stamped with the country’s flag.
It’s a sign of a great city that saw me struggle to limit my ‘most missed’ items to 20 and to find as many as 4 things I wouldn’t miss.
Goodbye London my dear friend – and I will see you again!
